GRANT FUNERAL SERVICES

Bro. Jake C. Stricklin, age 89, of Tullahoma, Tenn. formerly of Franklin County, Tenn., departed this life to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Monday, September 12, 2011 at his residence following a brief illness. He was born in Colorado City, Texas to the late Claude and Flora Bledsoe Stricklin.  He was a veteran of WWII serving his country in the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant.  He was a guard of Emperor Hirohito during his military service.  Bro. Jake is a retired Baptist Minister.  He first retired from Decherd First Baptist Church where he was the Minister for approximately 15 years. It was after this retirement he was employed by the Herald-Chronicle for approximately five years in sales. He was then called to pastor Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, Huntland and Victory Baptist Church, Tullahoma before retiring again. Bro. Jake pastored many church's during his calling into the Ministry. 

He is survived by his wife of sixty-seven years, Lillie Stricklin of Tullahoma, Sons; Walter Claude (Nancy) Stricklin of Hoover, Ala. , J.C. Stricklin and  Wendell Mark (Michelle) Stricklin, daughter, Lowanda Sue Young all of Tullahoma, sisters; Wanda Johnson of Houston, Texas and Shirley Ann Anton of Abilene, Texas.  8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. 

Visitation for Bro. Jake is scheduled for 4:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday evening. Services are 11:00 A.M. Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011 in the Chapel of Grant Funeral Services with Bro. David Wall officiating.  Interment will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens, Tullahoma with military honors bestowed.  In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to the Unity Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o Bro. David Wall, 498 Ovoca Lake Road, Tullahoma, Tenn.  37388.
