Harold Hunter McFarland West Point, Mississippi, age 86, passed away, Monday, Jan. 10, 2011 at the Golden Living Mountain-View Center in Winchester, TN.  Mr. McFarland was born Oct. 8, 1923 in Sandersville, MS to the late Pearl Jones McFarland and Cecil McFarland.  He was an Electrical Engineer with TVA for 35 years.  Mr. McFarland was a dedicated member of the First Presbyterian Church, EPC serving in various functions of the Church. He was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp serving during WWII.  Mr. McFarland, was active in the West Point Lions Club for many years, serving various club functions including his keen interest in "guide dogs" for the blind.  He was particularily dilligent in establishing a local "eye enucleation" program to provide the community the means to restore sight to those not as fortunate.  Mr. McFarland married Frances Tolar McFarland, Feb. 7, 1947, Laurel, who predeceased him on Sept. 21, 2006. 

Services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Friday, Jan. 14, 2011 at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Davis officiating.  Interment will follow in Memorial Garden Cemetery in West Point.  Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include one daughter, Dr. Linda M. Young (Sam) of McMinnville, TN; two grandchildren; Lorien Young Sites (John) and Hunter Young MacDonald (Scot), three great-grandchildren; Lillian, Jack and Emory and one sister, Eleanor McFarland of Heidelbert.  His son, Stephen Allen Mcarland, also predeceased him.
