Mary Lee Owensby, age 99, of Manchester, formerly of Franklin County departed this life on Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2010, at the Medical Center of Manchester. She was a homemaker and of the Church of God faith. Ms. Owensby loved to quilt. She never had a drivers license but drove “many a horse and buggy” during her lifetime. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husbands; Virgil Elliott and Tom Owensby. Sons; Victor Elliott and Joseph Owensby. Sisters; Annie Medley, Jessie Pruitt, Ruby Holloway, Janie Dalton, and brothers, Sam, Horace , Otto and Jerry Steele.
She is survived by her sons; Norvel (Loraine) Elliott of Chicago, IL, Luther (Joan) Elliott of Smyrna, TN, Johnny (Wilda) Elliott of Scottsboro, AL, Kenneth Elliott of Decherd, Bethel Elliott of Manchester and Bonneville Elliott of Chicago, IL. Sister, Eunice Justice of Scottsboro, AL. 30 Grandchildren and many Great-Grandchildren and Great-Great-Grand-children.
Visitation for Ms. Owensby is scheduled from 5:00-9:00 Friday evening in the chapel of Grant Funeral Services. Services are 1:00 P.M. Sat. with Bro. Steve Anderson officiating. Interment will be in the Watson-North Memorial Park, in Winchester.
