RACHEL TURNER MINES, age 83, of Tullahoma, departed this life on Thursday, March 3, 2011 at Horizon Health and Rehabilitation Center in Manchester following a brief illness.  She was born in Franklin County to the late Tony and Virgie Petty Turner.   Mrs. Mines was a homemaker and member of the Hickerson Station Church of Christ.  She was a loving and devoted wife and mother to her twelve children.

She was preceded in death by a son, James Willis Mines, Sr.  She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Felix Grady Mines of Tullahoma.  Daughters; Janice (Kenneth) Dodd of Hillsboro, Gail (Lonnie) Austin of Tullahoma, Patsy Newman of Hillsboro, Becky (Roger) Chambers and Melissa Smith all of Tullahoma.  Sons; Larry Mines of Illinois, Johnny (Barbara) Mines of Manchester, Ricky Mines, Ray Mines both of Tullahoma, Jeff (Missy) Mines of Summitville and Mike Mines, Sr. of Tullahoma.  29 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 2-great-great-grandchildren. 

The family will receive friends  from 5:00-9:00 P.M. Saturday Evening in the Chapel of Grant Funeral Services.  Services for Mrs. Mines are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Sunday Evening with Bro. Bill Walkup officiating.  Interment will follow in the Hoovers Grove Cemetery.

    I am so sorry to hear about your Mom. She was a very sweet lady & I enjoyed knowing her. The last time I saw her was in Walmart and we had a nice visit (blocking the aisles. :)) After all the years she still remembered me, and shared her special love with all.
