Ulysses S. “Billy” Grant, age 76, of Estill Springs formerly of Tullahoma, TN, departed this life on Friday, August 27, 2010 after an extended battle with lung cancer. He was born on Sept. 1, 1933 in Tullahoma to the late William David “Crockett” Grant and Amie Ollie Grant. Mr. Grant was employed for many years at Ernest Tucker’s Service Station. He was last employed at Batesville Casket Company in Manchester as a welder for 27 years before retiring. He was a member of the Victory Baptist Church in Tullahoma. Mr. Grant was also an Army veteran serving two terms. One of Mr. Grant's hobbies was collecting Coca-cola memoralbilia.
Mr. Grant was preceded in death by two sisters; Lucille Wein and Margie Sanders and brothers; William Lawrence Grant, Ray Auther Grant, Comer Grant, Erskine Grant, and Rudolph Grant.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Goodwin Grant of Estill Springs. Sons, Scott Grant and Christopher Grant both of Decherd. Daughters; Diane (Rickey)Riddle of Manchester and Sue Ann Sellers of Murfreesboro, TN. Sister, Catherine Branch of Tullahoma. Grandchildren; Alanis Grant, Chad (Vanessa) Riddle of Michigan, Dusty (Laura) Riddle of Manchester and Jessica Dalton of Cleveland, TN. Several nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be from 5:00-9:00 P.M. Monday Evening in the chapel of Grant Funeral Services. Services for Mr. Grant are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Tuesday with Bro. Jack Lambert officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Garner cemetery in Decherd, with Military Honors bestowed.
